Coach Brett Kendall has led the Highlander Tennis program  since 2014.  He has led the Woodlands High School to nine consecutive undefeated District Team Tennis Championships (2014-2022) and seven consecutive Regional Semi-Final appearances, including 2 Regional Final Triumphs in 2020 and 2021. The Highlander girls have won eight straight Spring Championships (2014 -2022) and the boys have won six straight (2015-22) following a District runner-up finish in 2014.  *No District Spring TMT in 2020 - COVID.


The Highlanders have made the Regional Tournament 18 consecutive years in Team Tennis.  The Highlanders have also finished ranked in the 6A Top 10 the past 8 years including a number 4 finish this past 2021 season. TWHS has reached a school best #3 ranking in 2022.



At last Spring's State tournament, the Highlanders had seven players qualify for State in 6A --Boys Doubles (Emilio Lopez/Jose Perez-Region 2 Champs).  Also, the Highlanders finished 1st at Regionals in Mixed Doubles (Rachel Sam/Felipe Rameriz) plus Regional Champion in Boys Singles (Cal Riggs)  and Boys Doubles-Regional Runner-up (Carson Moore/Eli Sam).

  • 16 Team Tennis Regional Finalist, 14 Trips to State.
  • Tennis camp Instructor at Newk's, T Bar M, Nike, Baylor and Texas A&M.

Personal - Married to Nell Kirkland Karrer Kendall.  Sons Daniel (Navy Reservist) and Stephen (USMC) .  Grandson Percy Bodhi Kendall.

Kevin McIlvain


In Coach Kevin McIlvain's first year at TWHS, The Highlanders set several new school records. Highest end of year State Ranking--#4 in 6A, seven individuals qualifying for the Spring 2022 State Meet, and extending their Team Tennis District win streak to 60 matches.
    
Coach Kevin McIlvain joined the Highlanders after 16 years as the Head
Coach at Seven Lakes High School. Coach McIlvain attended Midland High School and played tennis at Southwest Missouri State University.  McIlvain transferred to the University of Texas at Austin and earned his Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing and his alternative certification from the University of St Thomas.
